In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious,
The Most Merciful.
Charity : On last Friday when we were waiting in a Mosque for Jummah Prayer, the
Imam (who conduct the Jummah Prayer) of the Mosque asked for donations for
purchasing Air-conditions and Tiles for the Mosque. He also declared that those
who donate for purchasing the above items, will be benefited in various ways
such as “they will get 70 times of their donated amount, will get Jannah along
with their parents, their children will also be benefited and many more and it
is true if their donations will be accepted by our Lord, they can get various
facilities in the earth and on the day of last Judgment. May Allah help us!
Aa’meen.
It is seen that within
half an hour the Masjid Committee collected a good amount. Someone paid Taka 2
lack, one paid 1 lack and many of the worshippers paid thousand of taka. Maasah-Allah!
It is a good sign for
the believers, worshippers. All the Muslims are trying to carry out the orders
of our Lord and tried to donate as they can.
But it is sorry to
say, that if anybody (a Poor, a Miskin, a Needy Person, a Disabled Person or
any honest/honorable person who feels disgrace to beg for anything but he is
needy) begs for something or some helps, many of our rich persons reluctant to
pay them and/or pay a small amount that may not fulfill their requirement at
all!
In our country, we often
see some people standing the mosques, markets or on the footpath asking some
help humbly. Many of us used to say sorry, advice them to do something (works)
in order to earn livelihood instead of begging or pay them a little amount
which may not be able to maintain his family at all!
Here I’m not
criticising this kinds of charities but I’m just trying to narrate the fact which in fact is showing the true
love and kindness of ISLAM (The Holy Qur’an and Hadith) which our Imams and our
Society sad to say ignoring.
Our Lord (Allah (Sob:)) Says :
[Charity is]
for the poor who have been restricted for the cause of Allah, unable to move
about in the land. An ignorant [person] would think them self-sufficient
because of their restraint, but you will know them by their [characteristic] sign.
They do not ask people persistently [or at all]. And whatever you spend of good - indeed, Allah is Knowing of
it. – The Holy Qur’an 2:273.
Righteousness is not that you
turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in]
one who believes in Allah , the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the
prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to s, orphans, the needy,
the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who]
establishes prayer and gives zakah; [those who] fulfill their promise when they
promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle.
Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the
righteous.-The Holy Qur’an 2:177.
And do not consume one another's
wealth unjustly or send it [in bribery] to the rulers in order that [they might
aid] you [to] consume a portion of the wealth of the people in sin, while you
know [it is unlawful].-The Holy
Qur’an 2:188
Kind speech and forgiveness are better than charity
followed by injury. And Allah is Free of need and Forbearing. O you, who have believed, do not
invalidate your charities with reminders or injury as does one that spends his
wealth [only] to be seen by the people and does not believe in Allah and the
Last Day. His example is like that of a [large] smooth stone upon which is dust
and is hit by a downpour that leaves it bare. They are unable [to keep]
anything of what they have earned. And Allah does not guide the disbelieving
people. - The Holy
Qur’an 2:263-264.
Allah suggests us to spend from the wealth we have earned in genuine way
and which He has produced for us from the earth in order to give us the benefits
of these kinds of charity/gift.
Allah says:
And the example of those who spend their wealth seeking
means to the approval of Allah and assuring [reward for] themselves is like a
garden on high ground which is hit by a downpour - so it yields its fruits in
double. And [even] if it is not hit by a downpour or a drizzle [is sufficient].
And Allah, of what you do, is Seeing. The Holy Qur’an 2: 265
O you, who have believed, spend
from the good things which you have earned and from that which We have produced
for you from the earth. And do not aim toward the defective there from;
spending [from that] while you would not take it [yourself] except with closed
eyes. And know that Allah is Free of need and Praiseworthy. The Holy Qur’an 2:265-267.
Zakah expenditures are only for
the poor and for the needy and for those employed to collect [zakah] and for
bringing hearts together [for Islam] and for freeing captives [or slaves] and
for those in debt and for the cause of Allah and for the [stranded] traveler -
an obligation [imposed] by Allah. And Allah is Knowing and Wise. – The Holy Qur’an
9:60
Allah orders good behave, justice and giving to relative and forbids evil,
immorality and oppressions.
Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to s and forbids
immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He warns you that perhaps you will
be reminded. – The Holy Qur’an 16:90.
So give to the kindred his
die and to Al-Miskin (the Poor) and to the wayfarer. That is best for those who
seek Allah’s Countenance and it is they who will be successful. – The Holy Qur’an 30:38.
Al-Hadith:
Narrated Abu Huraira (RA):
The Prophet (SWS) said: "Charity is obligatory everyday on
every joint of a human being. If one helps a
person in matters concerning his riding animal by helping him to
ride it or by lifting his luggage on
to it, all this will be regarded charity. A good word, and every
step one takes to offer the compulsory
Congregational prayer, is regarded as charity; and guiding
somebody on the road is regarded as
charity." - Shahi Bukhari Vol. 4 No. 141
Narrated Abu Huraira (RA):
The Prophet (SWS) said: "The example of a miser and the one
who gives in charity, is like the example of
two men wearing iron cloaks so tightly that their arms are
raised forcibly towards their collar-bones.
So, whenever a charitable person wants to give in charity, his
cloak spreads over his body so much
so that it wipes out his traces, but whenever the miser wants to
give in charity, the rings (of the iron
cloak) come closer to each other and press over his body, and
his hands gets connected to his collar-
bones. Abu Huraira heard the Prophet saying. "The miser
then tries to widen it but in vain." Shahi Bukhari Vol. 4 No. 166.
Narrated Abu Huraira (RA):
The Prophet (SWS) said: "The poor person is not the one for
whom a date or two or a morsel or two (of
food is sufficient but the poor person is he who does not (beg
or) ask the people (for something) or
show his poverty at all. Recite if you wish, (Allah's
Statement): Shahi Bukhari Vol. 6, No. 63
"They do not beg of people at all." (2.273)
Narrated Abu Huraira (RA):
The worst food is that of a wedding banquet to which only the
rich are invited while the poor are
not invited. And he who refuses an invitation (to a banquet)
disobeys Allah and His Apostle.

Wherever our wealthy persons can to pay a Lot of Money
for the development work or beautifications of Mosque, but many of them
reluctant to pay a good amount to our Schools, and Madrasha or a needy person
even if he is known to them.
Certainly not all of them are same.
I think all of our wealthy persons should pay their
Zakat and charities as orders of our Lord and. They should follow the Holly
Qur’an and Hadith because any Fatwa not related to The Holly Qur’an and Hadith may
pollutes our Society and the poor peoples will never be benefited.
Our Government, The Islamic Foundation and our, Scholars
can play an important Role in these circumstances. May Allah (Sob:) Helps us
to be a Perfect Muslim! Aa’meen!
